How long does it take to have a web site designed?
The time scale is determined by the size of your web site, the complexity of your site design, and our current work load. The turn around for a standard 6-8 page website is about 2-3 weeks, this is from the time we receive the content from you to uploading the completed website to the internet.
What is a URL?
A URL stands for "universal resource locator". This is the address typed in to view your web page on the Internet. For example, you would type in http://www.fwwebsitedesign.co.uk to view our website.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is what you type in the URL bar in a web browser. Our domain name is "fwwebsitedesign.co.uk".
What is web hosting?
Web hosting is a monthly fee that you pay to have your site accessible on the Internet. You have to have web hosting to run a website. We provide web hosting as part of our web design service.
What is site maintenance?
Site maintenance is a fee paid monthly to keep your site updated with new content that you provide. We charge £35 per hour this service.Most good web sites have new content updated regularly. Fresh content can result in your visitors coming back to visit your site on a regular basis.
Can I choose you to design my site and use my own web hosting?
Yes, you can use any web host you like. Once your website has been completed you will have to provide us with your web hosting ftp login username as password so that we can upload your website for you. We would however need to be sure that your web host can provide adequate services, i.e. some hosting packages don’t offer database capabilities which we would need if you want a CMS website etc.
Why can't I find my web site in the search engines?
Once your site has been submitted to the top Search Engines such as Google they may require several weeks, or even months to actually spider and list your web site in their directory. How fast your site is listed depends on each individual Search Engines database update schedule.
Web Site Content - What Do I Put On My Site?
That would depend on the goals of your web site. If you run a business website you would include as much information about your products or services that your customers would need to purchase from you. The following pages are usually needed: About, Services, Contact.
I've made my decision - I want you to design my web site. Now what do I do?

Will we need to have a meeting in connection with the website design?
In the majority of cases a meeting isn't necessary and most of our websites are generally completed with contact via email and telephone only. As we design your site, we place it onto the Internet in a private place where only yourselves and us can view the content. We then liaise with you regularly to discuss the web design in order that the website design and functionality is exactly as you wish.
Once my website design is completed -what aftersales service do you offer?
We fully support any website we design and are always available should you encounter any problems or require any enhancements. We also offer web site maintenance so that you can keep your website up to date with new content.
Do I have to keep my website with you forever, or can I move it to another supplier to host it if I wish?
You may move your website to another web hosting service at any time. Once your website design has been completed, we can send you a copy of the website on CD. This copy of your website is for your retention.
In what format should I supply words and photographs about my business for my new website?
It is helpful to us if you are able to provide text and photographs in electronic form - for example, the files output by a digital camera and the words in MS word or similar format.
Will my website design be" Search Engine" friendly?
All our websites are created with search engines in mind and the website design is compliant with search engine guidelines. If search engine optimisation is important for your business it is a good idea for your website to be re-evaluated in time as over a period of time the search engines do alter their rules and algorithms and you will want to be certain that your website is kept up to date and complies with new rules etc.
I hear that there are hidden costs associated with web design services. Is this true?
No. We discuss with you your website requirements and then price accordingly, once you have placed an order for your website design and a price has been agreed, that’s all you pay.
Can I get e-mail with my website?
Yes, we can set up email addresses for you. You may wish to set-up several email addressed e.g. info@your-domain.com, enquiries@your-domain.com, john.smith@your-domain.com etc.
